The Triangle Project links together activities of people interested in the Diamond Way Buddhism. The Triangle name derives from a term tied up with the region where borders of three countries – Germany, Poland and the Czech Republic – meet. Although the borders between individual countries are slowly disappearing in the geographic sense, different tendencies and habits typical of the citizens of each of the countries remain.
As Buddhists, we often meet on various occasions, such as lectures, summer courses and common meditations, and we have decided to co-operate and to organize certain events together. Our goal is to meet, to get to know each other, to learn together, and to share and contribute to our accumulated cultural heritages. Our co-operation functions on many levels; we exchange our experience in the fields of translating, graphical design and art, and we organize together meditation weekends and lectures of travelling teachers. Image In the Czech Republic, the Project is organized under the auspices of the Společnost Diamantové cesty association of citizens (Diamond Way Association).
The Project's events are not organized only in the border region, but throughout the country. Local meditation centres ensure organization of particular events in co-operation with the national Triangle Project team. The entire Project is non-commercial and of benefit to the public.
The Project focuses on both public (exhibitions and public lectures) and practising Buddhists (common meditation meetings and courses). The common work helps to develop the spirit of common Europe and openness in practice. It also helps develop communication and language skills.
Through getting to know each other well, the differing qualities, opinions and attitudes typical of various nations will become richness and will cease to be a source of misunderstanding and conflicts. While the variety will remain, prejudice will dissolve and thus we can benefit everyone. In all countries, a series of public lectures, exhibitions and common meditation weekends will be organized, culminating in an international meditation course with Lama Ole Nydahl in Frýdlant, Liberec region, in winter 2004. Image Our aim is to spread information on the Buddhist teachings (the style of functioning of the Diamond Way in the West), and to inspire, entertain and make the public join our projects.
The Triangle Project is not a single attempt to unite people interested in Buddhism from different countries. There is an Click the map to zoom in! even more ambitious plan to find a proper place for Buddhist gatherings, which would be a strong base for the more than 400 Diamond Way Centers from all over the world, and called „The European Center“. We hope that through our idealism, friendship, and joint effort, we will be able to inspire and benefit others.
